The #1 Tweak I've Made

I have been aware of brain training, motivation, reading positive thoughts, saying mantras, visualization techniques, and any other tool for 3 years now. They have helped me tremendously and I continue to keep up my practice to this day. There has been one tweak that I have made to my weekly schedule that has helped me multiply the return on my investment with these practices. This has been with the help of Katy Corbett.

Katy Corbett is a member of CrossFit Pagosa and regularly comes to the 9am class. I have included the exact words of Katy Corbett below:

What I offer at Focused Education Services is neurofeedback therapy. The theory of neurofeedback is based on a simple concept – When you have information on what your brainwaves are doing, your brain can use that information to change how it works. Neurofeedback is also known as EEG Biofeedback. Neurofeedback is guided exercise for the brain. It is actually a learning modality designed to retrain dysregulated brainwave patterns. 

The goal of all neurofeedback is to transform an unhealthy, dysregulated brainwave pattern into a normal, healthy, organized pattern.This may look like high alpha waves, which can indicate too much day dreaming, low SMR waves which indicate difficulties with calm focus, or high beta waves which may indicate anxiety or excessive worry. By doing this, the brain becomes more regulated and is able to operate optimally and efficiently. 

These are the type of issues neurofeedback addresses:
-  Focus, distraction, impulsivity, and ADHD
-  Anxiety, stress, tension, or excessive worry
-  Learning difficulties at school or Learning Disorders
-  Insomnia and sleep related problems
-  Headaches and Migraines

Elite athletes are also interested in Neurofeedback to help them focus and perform at a level that optimizes their performance.

This training uses a non-invasive computer program to teach the brain to regulate itself by simply watching a DVD, and allowing the program to reward the brain when it is regulated. Typically, most people have permanent positive results within 30-40 sessions.
